Azaria had a very minimal amount of relationships. She hung out with males practically all in her free time, but she focused solely on horses and improving herself. The majority of her friends did ride so it made things easier; however, made them complicated all the same. She had dated two guys and one lasted longer than the other but she broke it off before high school was even done with. Besides, her overbearing father protected her from the wild hormones that he had once experienced as a teen, and Azaria was grateful for that. The handful of girls she was friends with had practically all gotten knocked up and left behind by their “boyfriends.” Clearly, they weren’t man enough to own up to their own incidents to stick around, but Azaria had been justified as a few godmothers for which she was proud of. Now, it was a different story. Instead of straying away from relationships, she found herself liking Travis. She felt comfortable around him and at ease, and she couldn’t deny the instant connection that they both clicked. That interest that often seemed to be dormant had now raised considerably, which hadn’t happened for a while.
What Travis didn’t know is that before she had launched herself into horseback riding, she took lessons in dance classes as well as piano. She could sing if she knew she was alone and had a friend teach her to play the guitar, but she hadn’t danced in quite some time to a waltz-esque song. He turned to her then, a smile filtering through the once seriousness of his face. A laugh followed through as she called him “dancer-boy” and she smiled at him slightly. He took her hand and spun her towards him, which she permitted, twirling into him and then retreating away from him. Maybe she wasn’t such a rusty dancer after all. She placed her empty hand on his shoulder lightly, allowing him to guide her wherever he so pleased. After all, the men did lead and Azaria was fine with that.
“You know, I am lucky you’re not like other girls.”
Azaria raised both eyebrows at that particular statement (she never really mastered the art of raising one) as he spun her around once more. She moved fluidly it seemed and she gave a small laugh as he explained why. Most girls would have lunged at him for having said that but Azaria thought it was comical. He began taking steps across the floor and she moved with him, following the pattern with ease. “However, the other girls would have already agreed to sleep with me but then regretted it when they realized what a good dancer I was.” She shook her head, laughing quietly with the way he raised his head almost satisfied with himself. ”They lucked out,” she said with a smile, continuing to follow him as the moved around the room, spinning every so often. She was comfortable and at ease rather than tense and incredibly nervous like she thought she would have been but that didn’t happen. It felt slightly natural to be moving gracefully across the floor with him picking out when and what to do when he felt the need to.
The music ended and her hands fell to her side as Travis bowed before her. With a laugh, she curtsied in return in her dirt-stained glory before capturing his smile that was mindlessly returned with one of her own. “You passed.” The words reached her and her smile broadened. ”Looks like those lessons paid off,” she said in a bit of a teasing manner. He returned back to the couch, dropping into the cushions. She moved towards the couch and sat down at the opposite end, turning towards him as he began to talk once more. “You know I grew up in Kentucky as well.” Azaria nodded, recalling her father having told her that. Most of the headlines in Lexington differed from the majority of the other states broadcasting the words “Hometown Olympic Hopeful” or something along those lines. ”Oh, I know.” She said quietly, her father really never forgot about it. He was always so eager to keep up with the equestrian topics so he could gush about them with his buddies. He was such an odd man but Azaria loved him regardless. His brow raised and she grinned at him. So, he wanted to know what her father said about him? What didn’t he say would be easier to answer. Before having the ability to answer, he went on and she smirked at his words, watching the mischievous smile spread across his lips. Azaria laughed then, permitting her eyes to crinkle at the corners as the laughter continued. She settled down, meeting him steadily, still grinning with what he recently said.
”Oh, yes, because you get all the ladies,” she responded playfully, winking at him before leaning back into the couch. ”I swear, he must have had some strange man-crush on you.” She laughed at the memory of him consistently rushing to the door when she would come home from work, blabbering on and on about his most recent win. He always reminded Azaria of a shrieking fan girl but this girl was placed in an older man’s body. She glanced at him and smiled. ”I think he even had all the details about you down pat. Yeah, he might be a stalker,” she gave a small laugh, the tone in her voice clearly joking. ”He followed you like it was part of his religion, and often told me I should be giving you stiff competition.” She winked at him again before shrugging. ”Let’s just say I got quite an earful about you when I got home and at that time, I didn’t even know who you were until now but I don’t see Travis the ex-show jumper, I just see Travis.” Azaria smiled, still recalling him pursing her around the house, badgering her to read the article so they could blab on about him. She shook her head laughing. ”He just might be your number one fan back home,” Azaria spoke, turning her head to look at him.
