no rose, no daisy can touch what i gothey i'm a wildflower, growin' in the sunshine------------------------------ soakin' up the way of life i was raised in. runnin' barefoot,
Tonight was just turning into a mess it seemed. Her boss just felt the need to harass her and bring her into work because someone else didn’t show up. Now, she was being reprimanded for the stupidity of her coworker. She was going to head off and explore the town to get more familiar with her surroundings but of course not, that wouldn’t happen for a while. She sighed as she slammed the door to her F150 and revved the engine before she pulled out of her driveway. Her boss owed her and he was just digging himself a hole. After she had been called into work and she was on her way, he decided to tell her to a wear a skirt or something. She had a few choice words to say to him which was something along the lines of “How about you shove it up your ass you chauvinistic pig?” She had to bite that back and turned around in her truck to head back home and change. He was so stuck on making more money that he would only think to ask his employee to dress in clothes she often didn’t. And in the middle of winter! Yes, she was going to slowly kill him in her mind.
Her teeth chattered wildly as she turned on the heat, speedily moving through the streets, allowing the loud country music to blare around her to immerse anger and drown it. Azaria took a chance to glance in the rear view mirror, spotting the natural colored make-up now around her brown eyes, bringing them out that much more. She looked stunning, well, to her at least, but she had never been one to dress up for something like work. Well, she did now. She grumbled to herself under her breath, moving away from the reflection to focus on the road. She soon turned into Risqué, the local bar/club in town. She hopped out of the truck with ease, exposing herself to merciless chill of the winter atmosphere. She was wearing a short jean skirt with black leggings and heels. Yes, he had specifically required her to wear heels. Underneath her jacket was a white tank top decorated with simple silver beads that would direct even more attention to her breasts. She walked passed the bouncer and he stepped aside for her, almost stunned that she didn’t smile and say hello. She just wasn’t up for small talk tonight. She could have been doing some errands or contacting Travis to hang out but it was just her luck that she was stuck working.
She entered the building and immediately scrunched her nose as the sound of rap music thundered through the speakers. Azaria glared at the DJ, mentally willing him to play country music. It was the only genre she listened to and thoroughly enjoyed. She took off her jacket, stuffing in an unused cabinet along with all her chances of contacting anyone to come save her from hell. She looked at the crowd around the counter top and her boss struggling to fend them off and fill orders. Azaria glowered at him as he grinned appreciatively at her attire. ”Shut it,” she muttered, glancing over at the next customer. With ease, she fulfilled their order, and quickly moved around to ensure that everyone would be happy and she’d get tips. She may have been an instructor but the majority of her money went to her horses, a little extra cash helped a lot. She watched as her boss stalked off, as she leaned against the counter top, listening to the intimate chatter around her and trying to tune out the obnoxious music circling around her. She watched the throngs of people clot together and then a drunken idiot was before her, muttering some perverted comment. She stiffened, her brown eyes locking onto him. ”Leave before I break you arm, please,” she tried to make it sound polite and he grunted something before heading off to a corner and hurling. She smirked, laughing to herself. ”Now, there’s a man that can’t handle his liquor,” she grinned to herself before pivoting on her heels.
Azaria could handle her liquor and stomach it rather well. She was never a fan of fruity drinks and much preferred the hard core alcohol but then again, she didn’t drink all too often. Normally, she would be sitting on the other side of the bar, but not tonight it seemed. Mindlessly, she cleaned out the glasses, eyes downwards as she waited for the next customer to either break her night or make it, and secretly, she was hoping that they would just give her hope that tonight wouldn’t be half as bad. Yeah, right.

I NEED ANOTHER STORY. SOMETHING TO GET OFF MY CHEST.I'M GONNA GIVE ALL MY SECRETS AWAY.TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR. SOMETHING THAT WAS LIKE THOSE YEARS.------------------------------------------------------------------ The headlights of the sporty black mustang convertible blinked twice as its owner approached the driver’s side door. Boy did he love that car. Travis recalled the day he got it from his parents; his twentieth birthday. He had been so surprised and had to have thanked them literally a thousand times. Heck! He still thanked them when he got the chance to this day…..for everything. Its funny how as a teen Travis never really appreciated anything his parents did for him. Now, after seeing his life flash before his eyes he couldn’t help but call them most every day, just to make sure everything was ok. His parents still supported him money wise. They paid for his car and his rent, what more could he ask for? Travis smiled as he sat into the tan leather seats. Man did he love that car.
Turning the key, the car burst to life around him. Shutting the door, Travis shifted the gear into drive and he was off. As he drove down the main drag in Foxtail Ridge, he hated the thought of going home to an empty house. He hated being alone. Being in an empty townhouse reminded him of prison. Nowhere to go and no one to be with. He recalled the text he had received earlier that day from Ria. As her name popped onto his iphone screen he only hoped that she wanted to do something tonight. He was disappointed after reading that she had been called into work and couldn’t do anything. This was why he loved his day job, it left evenings open for just about anything. As he sat at the red light at the intersection on Vine and Washington an idea came to him. If he and Ria couldn’t hang out than he would just have to go harass her at work. When the light turned emerald, Travis turned left onto Washington Street.
The parking lot of Risqué was absolutely packed as always. Travis searched for about ten minutes for a descent parking spot. After putting the ‘stang in park, Travis walked casually up to the front door. Pulling his i.d. from his pocket, he handed it to the burly man standing in front of the door. After carefully looking over Travis and comparing his face to that on the i.d. the man unclipped the barrier and let him pass. Travis nodded in gratitude as he walked over the threshold. His ears were instantly hit by the sound of hip hop music and chattering amongst the people within. Travis smiled at the numerous people who came up to him as he tried to navigate towards the bar. They greeted him with a handshake and the usual “How’ve you been?” His answer was always “Fine,” He was within ten feet of the wooden bar when he spotted the blonde hair that could only belong to Ria. Smiling wider than ever, Travis walked up to the treated wood counter top and waited until she was in ear shot before speaking to no one in particular. “Obviously they just let anyone behind the bar these days,” he paused smiling wide, “I might get lucky with this one, though. She looks like she's easy with that get-up," Roaring with laughter, Travis sat down on one of the stools, hands folded upon the bar top.

no rose, no daisy can touch what i gothey i'm a wildflower, growin' in the sunshine------------------------------ soakin' up the way of life i was raised in. runnin' barefoot,
Customer after customer approached Azaria, requesting some sort of drink which was immediately fulfilled. She ought to thank numerous people for teaching her how to create certain drinks at a decently young age. She watched as the occasional person was dragged out for either being too rowdy or well, too drunk. She looked up from her mindless washing of glasses to watch as the flailing limbs attempted to disorient the massive person who grabbed them by the collar of their shirt. This was just too amusing to her sometimes. Drunken people made her laugh but she was sure other people laughed at her when she got close to being buzzed. She smiled visibly before allowing it to falter and turn on the charm in order to drag in more money for herself and her boss. She felt like a whore with her pimp close at hand. ’Hmm… Wonder why,’ she thought to herself, shifting back around to clean off a now empty section of the counter top.
Azaria easily wiped down the surface and tossed the once white cloth back into the small sink beside her. She knew her way around a bar rather well but back home she would open a cold one and rock back and forth on her porch to watch the scenery. She would watch the rolling greenery dip and tumble before her, along with the silhouettes of the various equines on her father’s land. Now, she was dumped in the city with all the noise and traffic. Given a few more weeks and she would be accustomed to all this, adjusting quicker than most to somewhere that was a far cry from the moseying days of Kentucky. As soon as she cleaned and dried out the empty glasses, she began arranging them behind her. It wasn’t long before a particular voice stuck out from the blaring music and the chatter of people. ”Obviously they just let anyone behind the bar these days.” She turned around to gaze at the familiar face beaming at her. A small smirk resting on her lips as he continued. “I might get lucky with this one, though. She looks like she's easy with that get-up." Azaria attempted to stifle her laughter but she couldn’t anymore. A roll of laughter easily pushed past her lips and she grinned at him, shaking her head.
She mockingly allowed her arms to cross along her chest and she glared at him playfully. ”You wish, dancer-boy,” she stated lightly, smiling at him before permitting her arms to drop to her side and she crossed the small distance towards him. ”You just couldn’t stay away now, could you,” she inquired, permitting both eyebrows to lift in a small gesture of accusing him. She had, in fact, told him she couldn’t meet up tonight and yet, here he was before her. She had to admit that she wasn’t entirely opposed to the idea of him pestering her at work. Azaria allowed her eyes to flick towards the side, checking up to see if anyone needed a refill or wanted an order. Seeing there was none she slid her eyes back towards Travis’s face. ”What can I get you,” she asked, resting her elbows on the edge of the counter top. There was a mischievous glint to her eyes as she added on. ”Besides me.” Azaria laughed again, standing back up to observe him and the people in the background. Well, her night was taking a turn for the better since he arrived.

I NEED ANOTHER STORY. SOMETHING TO GET OFF MY CHEST.I'M GONNA GIVE ALL MY SECRETS AWAY.TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR. SOMETHING THAT WAS LIKE THOSE YEARS.------------------------------------------------------------------ It had been ages since Travis stepped foot into the local club he now sat in. Sure, he gave off a party animal vibe but honestly he wasn’t one to go out and hook up with girls like a lot of his friends did. No, he was more civilized, more….grown up. He was quirky and outgoing but the last thing he wanted was to be some random girl’s baby daddy. The wording made him laugh silently to himself. He sure as hell wasn’t a virgin but still, he didn’t need another grey cloud hovering over his head, not now at least. Plus, on his salary, he and his “family” would be living on the streets. The whole idea of sleeping around wasn’t very appealing anyways; he was much deeper than that.
Travis sat back onto the bar stool, a charming smile plastered across his lips. Ria, she really was special. He had been thinking a lot about their first meeting lately and he was surprised she took to him so well; he had defiantly been a smart ass that day. Although, the more he thought about it the more he came to realize that she had just as much to say as he had. It had been like a battle between two first graders, only it had more to do with “adult business” than perhaps a red crayon. The recollection of their first meeting made Travis laugh, they were defiantly destined to meet.
Leaning onto the counter top, Travis smiled as Ria responded to his rather loud comment. Two middle aged men whom had been listening intently to what Travis had to say raised a brow as Ria walked towards him. Their eyes scanned her as she halted in front of Travis. Looking towards them, Travis flashed them a wink before directing his attention back to Azaria. She was a horrible actress. He chuckled as she crossed her arms “sternly”. He could tell she enjoyed the attention he gave her; she just didn’t know it yet.
”You wish, dancer-boy,” ”You just couldn’t stay away now, could you,”
Travis’ eyes lit up as she spoke, a chuckle fleeted from his lips. Turning towards one of the middle aged men, Travis elbowed the man in the shoulder. “You see! We even have pet names for each other,” he paused, a playful smile playing across his lips, “I won’t mention what I call her….” Travis laughed as the man turned away quickly, utter confusion upon his face. After getting a good laugh, Travis calmed his laughter and spoke again, “Yeah, that’s it. After last night I couldn’t resist seeing you again,” he winked playfully before continuing, “Actually I had a doctor’s appointment and didn’t feel like going home, figured I’d come and pester you at work.”Travis sat contently on the stool, rubbing his hands through his hair. He yawned dramatically, his lips forming a smile as they came back together.
”What can I get you,” ”Besides me.”
Travis smiled charmingly at her comment. He loved playing these stupid back and forth games with her. “Surprise me,” he said, the corners of his lips twisting into an even more playful smile. “I’ve tried just about everything you have.” He paused scanning the bottles that lined the shelves behind the bar, “How 'bout you make me something, and I’ll guess what it is. If I get it right, I get to dare you to do something. If I get it wrong, you dare me. Deal?” Travis untied the neck tie around his collar and wrapped it across his eyes. This was going to be fun.

no rose, no daisy can touch what i gothey i'm a wildflower, growin' in the sunshine------------------------------ soakin' up the way of life i was raised in. runnin' barefoot,
Travis and Azaria had been hanging quite a lot since their encounter at the lounge. Azaria wasn’t complaining about it at all, actually. She was kind of grateful that he was willing to hang out whenever they were both available. It allowed her to get away from the empty apartment she was living in. It was eerily quiet in that building, sure the neighbors could have their stereos loud but still, to Azaria, it was silent and still. She wasn’t one for the peacefulness, and rather preferred being with people rather than being on her own. All it really took was a simple text message to Travis and she would have plans to get away from her one floor apartment. Besides, she was in good company whenever she went out and the conversation was always kept alive and filled with laughter. She had been shocked at how quickly they became friends. It was as though they were in preschool again where getting friend took sharing a cookie and that was it. A friendship like that was hard to come by and well, it seemed that she and Travis had that rare friendship.
For whatever reason, Ria had been replaying the first day they met every so often. Travis was a really different type of guy and the fact that they had laughed so hard until they cried wasn’t exactly what people did when they first met each other. This showed how unique their friendship was, well, to Azaria at least. She flicked her eyes over towards the older men that had watched her approach Travis and how she answered him in return. She laughed as he elbowed the man beside him and she grinned. He turned away quicker than most would have, clearly being put in an awkward position for having eavesdropped. He looked familiar, and though he wasn’t a regular, he did frequent the bar to possibly drown himself in a good beer. ”Yeah, that’s it. After last night I couldn’t resist seeing you again.” She smiled at his wink and exhaled lightly. ”Well, I did warn you that I am pretty addictive.” She returned his wink with ease and listened as he continued on with the real explanation. She smiled at him gratefully. ”Good thing too or else I might’ve punched my boss’s face in.” She gave a soft laugh, appearing to be teasing but if given an opportunity; she would have made him suffer. Hell, she might even go as far as making him dress in a similar outfit she was wearing now. She grinned inwardly at the thought. She just may do this one day.
Azaria watched him give a dramatic display of a yawn before smiling at her. It was then that an interesting proposition had been made there after and a wicked grin turned across her lips. She watched his eyes flick to the shelves upon shelves of liquor behind her. “How 'bout you make me something, and I’ll guess what it is. If I get it right, I get to dare you to do something. If I get it wrong, you dare me. Deal?” Her grin broadened as he undid the tie around his neck and she smirked at him. ”Deal.” Azaria was never one to turn down such things, but she couldn’t help but feel she revisited her elementary school days. She remembered being dared to do numerous things when she was a kid but now, Travis had upped the ante and this dare game was far more developed than licking the bottom of one’s shoe. Once the tie was securely fastened around his eyes, she immediately turned to the alcohol with a mischievous smile. There were so many options to pick from and her mind was already brewing with drinks to start out with. She decided she would test him just like he had with her dancing capabilities, so she would start off a bit easy but not too easy.
She approached the shelves and permitted her brown eyes to gaze upon the wide selection before her. She tapped her chin once before her eyes lit as the intrusion of an idea broke into her mind. Ria grasped the bottle of rum and picked up a shot cup. As she filled it to the brim, she let the glass rake lightly across his fingertips to let him know where exactly she had placed it. It was easy, she knew it was, but again, Azaria was testing to see how well he knew his liquor, especially the one at this bar. She grinned, leaning her side against the countertop.

I NEED ANOTHER STORY. SOMETHING TO GET OFF MY CHEST.I'M GONNA GIVE ALL MY SECRETS AWAY.TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR. SOMETHING THAT WAS LIKE THOSE YEARS.------------------------------------------------------------------ It truly seemed as though Travis’ life was taking a turn for the better. Ever since meeting Azaria he had been leaving the house more often than not which was rare in pre-Azaria times. Yeah, he had friends. Although, he didn’t have friends like her. She knew how to have a good time and that’s something he appreciated. There was no awkward small talk and no moments of silence. The two of them together could make the most boring day into the greatest one in a heartbeat. Their personalities perfectly meshed together to create the ultimate friendship. Travis hadn’t been as close to someone like he was with Azaria since middle school.
Travis was so glad Azaria was up for his extreme dare game. He too hadn’t taken a dare in years and felt that she would be the perfect victim to play it with. Although, seeing that they were so crazy around one another, Travis could see the game getting out of hand quite quickly. Oh well, it was all in good fun. He smiled upon her acceptance of his challenge and tied the neck tie tight around his eyes. He sat rather contently, his arms resting across the bar top. It was only a few minutes before he felt a shot glass rub against his finger tips. Smiling widely, he picked up the glass. Raising it above eye level, or what he imagined was eye level, he continued to smile widely. “Cheers,” he brought the glass closer to his lips but stopped suddenly. “For your sake, you best not have made it too easy, Ria.” With one last smile and downed the shot in one gulp. He released the glass onto the wooden slab and licked his lips. He instantly knew it was rum; that was the easy part. The only question now was what kind?
Travis breathed softly, thinking his options through. Come on, he had this before. In fact, she was better than he thought. Travis, you see, isn’t the biggest rum fan. Reaching behind his head, Travis untied the tie to reveal his blue eyes. He sighed heavily. He hated giving her the satisfaction of stumping him. He wasn’t completely bummed; this meant he was the first up to bat when it came to a dare. Shaking his head, “I hate you,” he said, rubbing his neck. “How did you pick the one thing on the shelf I wasn’t an expert at?” He raised his head, a smile penetrating his lips. “Its rum, but I sure as hell couldn’t tell you what kind,” he chuckled happily as he looked up at her, he couldn’t wait for her to challenge him with some ridiculous dare. “Alright, woman.” He stood up, letting the neck tie rest across his shoulders, “Lay it on me. Don’t be generous, I like a challenge.”

no rose, no daisy can touch what i gothey i'm a wildflower, growin' in the sunshine------------------------------ soakin' up the way of life i was raised in. runnin' barefoot,
Azaria waited patiently, well as patiently as she could. The anticipation was rising within her as waited for Travis to register that the shot glass was right near his hand. It must have been silly to any stranger listening to their conversation and their dare game. It might have even seemed a little immature but Azaria didn’t care. It was going to be fun either way and they would certainly get a few good laughs from this as well. Her eyes lit up immediately as his hand grasped the glass. It was almost too tempting to down the drink in him to see if he figured out exactly what kind of rum it was. It just shouldn’t be to this extent that Azaria was almost overwhelming anticipating his reaction. It was a bit ridiculous to see her to this extent of excitement. She bit her bottom lip as he raised the glass above him.
She was going to crash from all of this racing of her heart as he brought the glass to his lips; however, it seemed that he was teasing her as he directed this better not be easy. To Azaria, it was easy but she was sure as hell hoping it wasn’t easy for him. It was then that he downed the drink and placed the shot glass back onto the table. She was smiling then, watching him overwork the possible outcomes. She took the glass and rinsed it through before drying it. She needed to keep herself preoccupied; otherwise, she might just blurt out the answer and be done with it. The wait was horrendous like he knew it was going to make her suffer. Azaria turned as a customer now tapped the countertop in a slightly old fashioned way of letting her know they wanted a refill. She did the same thing and rushed over to fill up the glass. She walked surprisingly fast for a girl who normally didn’t wear heels on a daily basis. She was glad she wasn’t tripping over her own two feet.
Azaria was almost stunned that he removed the neck tie from around his eyes to reveal his eyes once more. Before he even said anything, Azaria was grinning wildly, clearly having won round one of their game. “I hate you.” She laughed a little at that particular comment, smirking as her laughter subsided. So he didn’t know his rum products? It was a good fact to know in case they revisited this game of theirs. She nodded as he stated it was rum but the brand he didn’t exactly know. Azaria shook her head, smiling at him. ”It’s Bacardi,” she stated, glancing back over her shoulder at the container resting on the shelf. Then she turned back to him, watching him before he spoke. “Alright, woman.” He rose to his feet and she smiled at him almost playfully. He wanted a challenge and those were just the exact words she wanted to hear.
A wicked grin slithered its way easily onto her lips as she moved her head off the side, pondering what exactly to dare him with. It was after casually scanning the crowd that her eyes brightened at a grand idea. She turned back to him and smirked. ”It’s time to turn on the charm, Mister Man,” she spoke in an excited tone, letting her eyes rest on Travis for a moment before allowing them to rest on the middle aged men. She held back the urge to smile at him. ”Show them what you’re workin’ with.” She smiled then, grinning almost in a twisted and playful way. He was going to have to flirt with them, out in public but oh, Azaria could have come up with much worse. She winked at him before adding on. ”There’s a catch though,” she paused letting her eyes dart to the counter top in a mysterious and secretive way before she looked at him again. ”You have to get one of their numbers.” Azaria let a laugh pass through before she winked at Travis again. ”Go get ‘em tiger.”
